Co-op City Bronx Eye Exams
Can you remember the last time you had a comprehensive eye exam? It is generally recommended that healthy adults have eye exams every one to two years. If you cannot remember the last time you had an eye exam, why not make an appointment to see our eye doctor at Vision Center of New York? Patients come to our practice for Co-op City Bronx eye exams and expert eye care.
At vision Center of New York we have two expert and highly-trained ophthalmologists and refractive surgeons. They are Dr. Gary R. Fishman, our Medical Director, and Dr. Simon Wu. Whether you need one of our Co-op City Bronx eye exams or eye surgery, our eye doctors will be able to provide the expert treatment you need. Our eye care practice is state-of-the-art in terms of both technologies and procedures performed. We provide a full range of eye care services and treatments including care for: cataracts; glaucoma; diabetic retinopathy; dry eyes; eye trauma; and macular degeneration. We also offer LASIK vision correction.
Our Co-op City Bronx eye exams are very thorough. They will begin by determining whether or not you have any refractive vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. If you do our eye doctor will be able to write an accurate vision prescription for either eyeglasses or contact lenses. The second part of the exam will focus on determining whether or not you have any eye diseases or disorders. This is very important because many serious eye diseases show no symptoms in the early stages. For example a patient may have glaucoma, and may be losing his or her sight without even realizing it. With early diagnosis this patient will be able to receive treatment which will keep the glaucoma from advancing. Eye diseases and disorders that our eye doctor will screen for include: macular degeneration; cataracts; glaucoma; retinal tears; diabetic retinopathy; and other diseases of the cornea, retina, and macula. If it is determined that you have an eye disease our expert ophthalmologists will be able to provide the expert treatment you need. Our eye doctors also provide LASIK surgery that will reduce your dependency on eyeglasses or contact lenses. This surgical procedure is done using local anesthesia. It will change the shape of the cornea so that your eye will be able to correctly process light images without using man-made lenses. Among the other services we offer our: PRK surgery; cataract surgery; and surgery to help with treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye problems.
